What is an IT company profile?

An IT company profile is a short document that introduces a technology business: what it builds or manages, which technologies it works with, who its clients are and what results it has delivered. IT firms send it with proposals and tenders, share it in sales calls and use it for partner and vendor registrations.

It is the same idea as any company profile, with one difference: buyers of IT services are trusting you with their systems and data. So beyond the usual about us and services pages, an IT profile needs proof of technical skill and reliability, such as certifications, partner status, case studies with numbers and a clear support model.

What to include in an IT company profile

Here is how the sections usually map onto a 12-page template like the ones below:

  1. Cover: logo, company name and a one-line description of what you do.
  2. Company overview: who you are, when you started, where you operate and how big the team is.
  3. Services and solutions: software development, cloud, managed IT, cybersecurity, consulting. Describe each one by the problem it solves.
  4. Technology stack and partnerships: the platforms you work with and partner badges such as Microsoft, AWS or Google Cloud.
  5. Certifications: ISO 27001, ISO 9001, SOC 2 or local equivalents, if you have them.
  6. Case studies: two or three projects with the client’s problem, your solution and a measurable result.
  7. Clients and testimonials: logos and short quotes.
  8. Team: founders and lead engineers with roles and experience.
  9. How you work: delivery process, support hours and response times.
  10. Contact and back cover: address, email, phone, website and LinkedIn.

IT company profile sample text

The overview page is the hardest to write. Here is a sample for a fictional company that you can adapt. Replace the names and numbers with your own.

About Northbyte Solutions

Northbyte Solutions is an IT services company founded in 2016. We help mid-sized businesses build, run and secure their software, from custom web and mobile applications to cloud migration and 24/7 managed support.

Our team of 45 engineers has delivered more than 120 projects for clients in retail, logistics, finance and healthcare. We are a Microsoft Solutions Partner and AWS Select Tier Partner, and our security practice is ISO 27001 certified.

Mission: to give growing companies the same reliable technology as large enterprises, without the enterprise price tag.

Notice what the sample does: one sentence on what you do and for whom, then numbers (team size, projects, industries), then proof (partners, certification). Avoid lines like “we are a leading provider of innovative solutions”. Every IT company says that, so it tells the reader nothing.

Tips for writing an IT company overview

  • Write for the buyer, not for other engineers. The person reading is often a manager or procurement officer.
  • Turn features into outcomes: “cut deployment time from two weeks to one day” beats “CI/CD pipeline expertise”.
  • Put numbers on everything you can: uptime, response times, projects delivered, years in business.
  • Show your stack with logos instead of long lists of tools.
  • Keep one version for print and a lighter PDF for email. Most IT profiles are read on screen.
  • Update it at least once a year. Old client logos and outdated certifications hurt trust.

New company with no track record yet? Lead with the founders’ experience and your first pilot projects. The Startup Business templates above are designed for that.

How do I write an IT company description?

Start with one sentence on what you do and for whom, then add numbers (team size, projects, years) and proof (partners, certifications, well-known clients). Use the sample text above as a starting point.
