What makes a good flyer design?
A flyer is a single printed or digital page that promotes an event, a business or an offer. The best flyers have a clear hierarchy: one big headline, one strong image, the key details and one call to action, readable from a few steps away.
- One message: the event, the offer or the service, not all three.
- A headline you can read from a distance: big, bold and short.
- A strong visual: a photo, illustration or bold color that fits the topic.
- The essentials: what, when, where, price and how to act.
- White space: room around elements so the page does not feel crowded.

How to design a flyer
- Define the goal and audience. Who should read it, and what should they do next?
- Write the copy first. Headline, three to five lines of details, call to action and contact.
- Pick a template that fits the topic. Music and party flyers are loud; business flyers are structured; travel flyers are photo-led.
- Replace the photos and text. Use your own images and keep the headline short.
- Check the hierarchy. From arm’s length, you should see the headline, the image, then the date or offer.
- Add a QR code to tickets, a menu, a booking page or your website.
- Export for print and digital. PDF with bleed for printing; JPG or PNG for social media and messaging.
What to put on a flyer
| Flyer type | Must include |
|---|---|
| Event or party | Event name, date and time, venue, performers, ticket price, how to book |
| Business or service | What you offer, three benefits, contact details, website or QR code |
| Sale or promotion | The discount, what it applies to, dates, store address or website |
| Travel or tour | Destination photos, package and price, what is included, how to book |
| Restaurant or cafe | Signature dishes, offer, opening hours, address, delivery number |
Flyer design tips
- Use no more than two fonts: a bold display font for the headline and a simple font for details; see our extra bold fonts.
- Limit the palette to two or three colors plus black or white.
- Make the call to action obvious: Book Now, Call Now or Scan to order.
- Leave a 3 mm bleed and 5 mm safe margin for printing.
- Print a test copy to check colors and text size.
- Reuse the design for social posts and banner ads.
